Our Trip to the Sunshine Coast Minimize

I am an employee at Go West and got my chance to take an RV for the first time. My husband and I were completely RV virgins, so this was a great adventure for us.
The trip started with sunshine, which is unusual for the May long weekend. Our RV was prepped and waiting for us to unload. We took the short trip to Horseshoe Bay and hopped aboard. The trip over was spectacular! The panoramic view was incredible!
After only a 40 minute ferry ride we took the short drive to Gibson’s. We walked around the quaint little town and enjoyed the board walk at the marina and went for dinner at the famous Beachcomber’s Molly’s Reach restaurant. This is where you begin to realize how laid back it is here when you see signs in the window shops that say “Basically I’m open when you’re at work” and a fancy painted sign at mid section of a hill that says, “You’re almost at the top!”
We then found our way to our first camp spot just outside of Sechelt called Porpoise Bay. This was only a short 20 minute drive with zero traffic! Lots of beautiful sights, not much driving and no traffic. this is my kind of holiday! We rolled in at 8pm and snuggled ourselves in for our first night.
After a restful, comfortable sleep and a great breakfast cooked with no problem in our RV kitchen, we set out to explore Porpoise Bay. Nothing but beauty, white sand and lovely walks and the weather stayed just as great!
The next day after a shower, which I have to mention was so impressive. Wow…hot water and water pressure! This started our phrase for the duration of the trip which was “this is the only way to camp!” We set off to explore and begin the second half of our trip. I realized that I hadn’t even stepped outside that morning and we were already on the road!
We decided to take a hike that my husband had read about in the local “things to do” paper. In Pender Harbour we took a 30 minute hike to the top of Pender Hill. What a great way to see a fabulous panoramic view of Pender Harbour and feel like you’re on top of the world!
Our last destination was Egmont where we stayed in our own private site with full hook up overlooking the most impressive view, Secret Bay. We meandered around the village, walked on the boardwalk and chatted with the locals who were very friendly.
The next day in Egmont, we went on another hike to Skookumchuck Narrows. The hike begins with an easy; quiet walk through a beautiful forest and ending with a spectacular sight.  Flowing through the narrows that connect Sechelt and Jervis Inlet is an incredible sight of turbulent tidal rapids. We even had a very rare scene of a prawning boat taking on the rapids to get through the narrows. We were rewarded for our movie taking of the prawn boat, as the wife of the boat driver was waiting for us at the end of the trail looking for the picture takers of her husband and his boat. We agreed to send them the movie and later on we got a knock on our RV door. It was the boat man with a huge bag of fresh prawns all for us! I have to say, they were the most delectable, sweet prawns I have ever tasted!
So, if you enjoy hiking, untouched forests, waterfalls, white sandy beaches, and “island” laid back communities, you will love the beautiful Sunshine Coast. So close, yet so far away from the bustle of metropolitan city life.
Renting an RV from my own company was a great experience. I learned that we ARE top notch. I was struck by the unbelievable quality and great service, they simply thought of everything!
